Archipelago appoints N. Sulawesi gold project construction manager

UK miner Archipelago Resources plc announced Wednesday the appointment of Gerard (Ged) Edwards as Construction Manager of the Company?s Toka Tindung Gold Project in North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Ged is a civil engineer with extensive Asian experience and was previously Project Manager for McConnell Dowell at the Chatree Gold Project in Thailand and the Sepon Project in Laos.

Most recently he supervised the dismantling of the El Tambo gold processing plant in Chile for Archipelago. This job involving the deconstruction and transportation of some 2,000 tonnes of plant and machinery was completed without injury to personnel or loss/damage of equipment, at high altitude and in challenging weather conditions. When cleaned and packed this equipment will be relocated to Toka Tindung.

The company also said due diligence studies being undertaken for prospective project financiers of the Company?s Toka Tindung Gold Project, are near completion. The project has a resource of 1.75M oz of gold equivalent of which at least 0.9M oz will initially be mineable by open pit. Production is targeted at 160,000 oz per annum for an initial 6 year mine life commencing in mid 2006.(alex)
