Armed conflicts near ExxonMobil areas continue

Armed conflicts between members of the pro-independence group GAM and the government?s solders occurred in several locations in South Aceh on Tuesday, killing two Indonesian military members, Suara Karya reported on Wednesday.

The military unit?s senior officer in Aceh, Major Zaenal Mutaqin said on Tuesday that the two army members ? Dedy Hemansyah and Didit Irwanto ? were shot dead by the GAM members at different locations.

Dedy was attacked in Jambo Daleh village, Tromun district, North Aceh when he and other 26 army members returned from guarding South Aceh regent?s visit to Medan. The other soldier Didit was shot dead about two kilometers away from the location.

The GAM members also attacked some areas near the gas concession of Exxon Mobil Oil in Northern Aceh. Two school buildings were burned down during incident. They also attacked one of ExxonMobil?s cars injuring one of the company?s employee.

"The employee, Khuzaimah suffered a serious shot injury and is now still treated in the nearby hospital," Zaenal said. (*)
