Arun-Belawan pipeline project speeds ahead

The development of a pipeline network from Arun in Aceh to Belawan in North Sumatra, spanning for some 350 km, is going ahead with the project already securing key permits from Aceh governor.
According to a statement from the State Owned Enterprises Ministry, the project is now waiting for permit from the North Sumatra governor.
?We have contacted three Regents at the North Sumatra province. They have all agreed to soon write up a recommendation to their governor to issue the necessary licences,? the statement said.
PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) will develop the pipeline network. A Front Engineering End Design (FEED) work is currently being carried out by PT LAPI ITB, a business unit of the Bandung Technology Institute in a process expected to be completed later in September.
The pipeline will link the Arun gas facilities, which will be transformed into a gas receiving terminal, and Belawan in North Sumatra. The gas will mainly be supplied to the power plant owned by PLN in the seaport town of Belawan.
