The Arun-Belawan gas pipeline project stretching from Aceh to North Sumatra, developed by state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, is expected to be completed in October or November this year.

The progress of the construction works has reached 56 percent, Salis Aprilian, Senior VP for Gas and Power at Pertamina told Petromindo.com on Friday.

He said Pertamina has signed sales and purchasing agreements with three buyers, namely state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN); the Medan Industrial Park (KIM) and the Sei Mengkei Special Economic Zone (KEK0 on a combined supply of 200 mmscfd.

Since the pipeline has a capacity of 400 mmscfd, that means it still has an excess capacity of 200 mmscfd which remain uncontracted.

Salis said Pertamina is boosting efforts to market the gas, while noting that the pipeline is an open access one.
