Entering year 2001, gas producer PT Arun NGL targets to export 116 tankers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) this year, in accordance with its sales contracts with buyers in a number of countries.
This year's LNG export target constitutes as a slight decrease from 118 tankers of LNG that Arun exported last year, or equivalent with 6.7 million tons of LNG.
Last year, Arun NGL actually secured contracts to ship up to 120 tankers of LNG. But buyers in Japan failed to supply all the tankers, and consequently canceled the purchase of three tankers. But luckily, buyers in South Korea added one more tanker of LNG to its purchase from Arun, making a total of 118 tankers of LNG Arun exported last year.
Arun managed to export 118 tankers of LNG last year despite technical and non-technical constraints, especially security concerns in the restive Aceh province, where Arun is operating.
Besides LNG, Arun also managed to sold 10.3 million barrels of condensates to both domestic and foreign buyers and 23,700 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Japan. (*)
