Thousands of the employees of coal mining firm PT Arutmin Indonesia in South Kalimantan demand the company to provide them with a severance payment before they're being transferred to PT Thiess, the former's new partner to develop a coal-mining project.
Two Arutmin employees, Rachman and Sahidin, told the local Suara Kaltim daily that the employees would not join PT Thiess if Arutmin didn't provide them with the severance pay.
The two accused Arutmin of not honoring the rights of the employees.
Arutmin and Thiess plan to start their alliance on June 12. (*)
