Restless employees of South Kalimantan coal mining giant Arutmin has ended their two-day strike and returned to work starting this morning, according to company external relations manager Sonny Pangestu.
The employees staged a two-day demonstration on Tuesday, protesting the plan by Bumi Resources to acquire an 80 percent stake in the company. Some fear that the acquisition would lead to a major reshuffle in the company and some layoffs.
The strike had earlier created concern of disruption in Arutmin coal production and shipment.
Arutmin to officials flew from Jakarta to South Kalimantan Wednesday to try to calm the restless employees and provide better information about the planned acquisition.(Godang)
