South Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Arutmin Indonesia is optimistic to reach the annual target of 18.6 million tons.

Last year, the firm, which is owned by publicly-listed firm Bumi Resources, produced 15 million tons of coal.

?In the first half of the year, we produced 7.5 million tons, increased from 3.5 million tons in first quartal. In view of the increased output and the fact that there are no more rains, we feel assured to reach the production target,? Zainuddin JR Lubis told Petromindo.Com on Friday.

When asked about the progress of the firm?s underground mining project in the Satui area, Zainuddin said the firm expected to start trial operation this year. The firm is now training its workers to carry out the project. (Dino)
