Independent power producer PT Arya Watala Capital plans to develop hybrid power plants in 13 locations in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provinces.
President Director of Arya Watala Capital, Aria Witoelar, said the hybrid power plants, which will combine solar photovoltaics technology and diesel generator, will be located in areas where power supply is lacking.
?Our focus of business is on renewables, especially solar,? he told Petromindo.com on Thursday.
He said that the diesel generator will only be temporary, as in the future it may be replaced with other renewable technologies such as hydro or biomass.
He said that the hybrid power plants in NTT will be developed in eight locations, in cooperation with France-based ENGIE, including Pulau Rote, Pulau Sabu, Pulau Adonara, Waikabubak, Aesesa, Lembata, Kalabahi and Betun.
Meanwhile, the projects in NTB, in cooperation with a German firm, will be located in Sape, Dompu, Empang, Lunyuk, and Pekat. Total estimated investment is around US$40 million.
