The Asam-Asam power generating unit in South Kalimantan will start its initial operation in July and commercial operation in August, according to the public relations officer of the province's state electricity company PLN office Lian Hilal Lubis.

Lian said that Asam-Asam power generating unit is currently starting its trial operation.

He said that coal mining firm PT Jorong Barutma Greston would provide some 15,000 tons of coal for the trial operation.

He said that Jorong was the single coal supplier for the power generating unit.

Lian said that the Asam-Asam power generating unit was also designed to provide power to the Central Kalimantan province, but there has been a dispute with the local West Banjar subdistrict community in Banjarmasin in relation with the connecting tower. The Banjarmasin administration is currently seeking ways to resolve the dispute. But the paper didn't specify what the dispute was. (*)
