ASEAN plans coal center in W. Java

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plans to set up a coal center which among others will be the center for exchange of research works on coal-related technologies among member nations.

The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) said in a statement it has proposed for the ASEAN Coal Center to be located at the ministry?s Applied Coal Technology Center in Palimanan West Java.

Four representatives of the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) visited on Thursday the Applied Coal Technology Center as ACE seeks inputs to prepare proposal to raise funds for the ASEAN Coal Center.

The ministry said it had proposed the Applied Coal Technology Center as location for the ASEAN Coal Center during the recent annual ASEAN Forum on Coal in Jakarta.
