IDX-listed automotive component maker PT Astra Otoparts (IDX: AUTO) has partnered with a unit of state electricity firm PLN to roll out the country’s first pole-mounted electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
Under the initial phase, PT Velasto Indonesia, a subsidiary of Astra Otoparts, and PT Prima Layanan Nasional Enjiniring, a subsidiary of PLN, will install 122 charging units—30 in West Sumatra and 92 in West Java.
The pole-mounted design allows the units to be installed directly on existing utility poles, removing the need for additional land and enabling faster deployment.
This is a result of collaboration and innovation to support infrastructure development across Indonesia, said Velasto President Director Dian Metias in a statement on Wednesday.

“We are committed to providing high-quality charging equipment to support safe, modern SPKLU operations that are accessible to the wider public,” Dian said.
The chargers are equipped with 7-kilowatt AC technology and meet national safety standards. Each unit is integrated with the PLN system and connected to the company’s mobile app, allowing users to locate stations, initiate charging, and monitor sessions in real time.
The company said the initiative could be expanded to support broader EV infrastructure goals in Indonesia.
