At least one killed in coal barge capsize

A coal barge was overturned late last week on the Belayan River, Kenohan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, killing one crew, and four others went missing, local reports said.
The barge, owned by PT Anita Samudra Lintas, was carrying 2,218 tons of coal belonging to PT Indonesia Pratama on its way to the Bangun port town when one of its engines dies, causing it to be swept by the river currents, and capsized when hitting the river bank, Samarinda Pos daily reported Saturday.
Of the seven crews, four were swept by the currents and went missing, one died after crushed by the hull, and three others survived the incident, the reports said. (*)
