IDX-listed coal mining group PT Atlas Resources Tbk has obtained all necessary permits from the Indonesian government, including land use permit from forestry ministry, to build a second stage of 137-km hauling road (haul road-2) from its mines in Musi Banyuasin (Muba) regency, South Sumatra to Lalan river port.

The company had temporarily delayed the project due to global economy slowdown and it now expects to start the construction of the second stage hauling road project in the middle of this year.

The second stage project would allow the hauling road to be used by trucks with capacity of 120 tons, much higher than the current first stage 130-km hauling road capacity of 30 tons.

The company is targeting to install 9.25 million tons coal per annum transfer capacity in 2015 from the current installed capacity of about 3-4 million tons per annum of coal.

Jetty port at Lalan river is able to serve 300 feet barge.

Atlas has a several coal mines in Muba hub, namely PT Gorby Putra Utama, PT Gorby Energy, PT Gorby Global Energi, PT Cipta Wanadana and PT Banyan Koalindo Lestari, in which the combined total resource of low rank coal reaches 321 million tons.

Most of the coal from Muba hub is sold to state electricity firm PT PLN under long-term contract.
