IDX-listed coal mining company PT Atlas Resources Tbk said that one of its coal subsidiaries PT Gorby Putra Utama started production in June at a new pit in Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra.

?PT Gorby Putra has started production activities at the Rajawali Pit,? said Atlas Director Joko Kus Sulistyoko to Petromindo.com recently.

Joko said that the new pit produces coal with calorific value above 4,400 kcal/kg (GAR), and ash below 2.5 percent, specifications required by state-owned electricity company PT PLN as customer.

?Currently, the capacity of equipment run by contractor stands at 50,000 tons per month. We hope that over the next three months, it could be increased to 150,000 tons per month,? Joko said.

Atlas has five coal concessions covering a total of 41,000 hectares in Musi Rawas and Musi Banyuasin regencies in South Sumatra.
