IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Atlas Resources Tbk aims to boost production at its subsidiary PT Gorby Putra Utama (GPU), which runs mines in Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra, to 775,000 tons this year.

?The production target for GPU until end of this year is 775,000 tons. We?re currently focusing at the Rajawali pit,? Atlas Corporate Secretary Lidwina S. Nugraha told Petromindo.com recently, adding that GPU last year produced 133,000 tons.

As has been previously reported, GPU started production at the Rajawali pit in June of this year. The new Rajawali pit produces coal with calorific value above 4,400 kcal/kg (GAR), and ash below 2.5 percent, specifications required by state-owned electricity company PT PLN as customer.

Atlas has five coal concessions covering a total of 41,000 hectares in Musi Rawas and Musi Banyuasin regencies in South Sumatra.
