IDX-listed coal mining firm PT ATPK Resources Tbk is looking into the possibility of developing a 2x25 MW coal-fired power plant at its mine site in East Kalimantan, Kontan reported on Saturday.
The paper quoted company Corporate Secretary Andreas Andy as saying that the entire power output would be sold to state-owned electricity company PT PLN.
He added that the company is considering various options to finance the planned power plant project including teaming up with investors or manufacturers of power generating equipment in Europe, China and the US.
He did not provide further details about the project.
ATPK plans to produce 3 million tons of coal this year, up from 1.9 million output realized during the January-November 2014 period. The output will come from its 3,274 ha concession in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan, run by subsidiary PT Mega Alam Sejahtera. (*)
