ATPK unit acquires mining equipment

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT ATPK Resources Tbk said that its subsidiary PT Mega Alam Sejahtera (MAS) has signed an agreement to acquire operational and non-operational mining assets from coal miner PT Bara Jaya Utama (BJU) for Rp 153.92 billion.

The company said in a statement Tuesday that the assets to be acquired include 33 units of heavy equipment, 69 dump trucks, 12 light vehicles, and supporting assets, all of which to be used to support MAS mining operation.

ATPK owns 99.99 percent of MAS, which operates a 3,274 hectares of coal concession in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. ATPK said that MAS is currently the process of acquiring (providing compensation to landowners) another 117.2 ha of land within its concession to expand its coal mining operation.
