Production at Attaka field in Attaka PSC, in East Kalimantan, currently stands at only 4,300 bopd, according to upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas Head Amien Sunaryadi.
?Production from Attaka block is not much, only around 4,300 bopd,?Amien said on Monday during a hearing with the House of Representatives Commission VII on energy and mining.
Inpex Corp holds a 50 percent interest in the Attaka block as the operator, while partner Chevron Indonesia Company (CICO) holds the remaining balance. The current contract over the block is set expire at the end of 2017, and both companies have said they would not seek for an extension of the contract. This portal previously reported, quoting a source, that state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has requested to the government to take over the block after the expiry of the current contract.
The Attaka PSC, located in the Makassar PSC, contains the giant Attaka field, which was discovered in May 1970 and developed as the first offshore field in Indonesia, with first crude oil and natural gas production occurring in November 1972 from six wellhead platforms.
The East Kalimantan provincial administration has said it wanted to have a participating interest in the Attaka PSC.
