Audit on Freeport must involved Green Peace

The planned audit on the giant gold mining firm PT Freeport Indonesia should involved the participation of credible environmental watchdog such as Green Peace and Rainbow Warrior, according to head of the Papua Baliem Valley Foundation Rolando Edmond.

Edmond was quoted as saying by the Bisnis Indonesia daily on Tuesday that the participation of Greenpeace, Rainbow Warrior or Friends of the Earth would balance the work conducted by Montgomery Watson, the auditor appointed by Freeport.

Edmond was speaking at a seminar on reclamation of ex-mining sites in West Papua. (*)
