Australian company Arrow Energy will explore coal-bed methane (CBM) in Muara Enim regency, South Sumatra in cooperation with local company PT Sugico Graha.

Palembang Pos daily reported Friday that executives of the two companies expressed their interest in exploring CBM wells during a meeting with the regency's senior officials including Regent Kalamuddin Thursday.

Nev Robinson, the general manager for exploration of the Australian companies said during the meeting that his company had for years been involved in the production of gas methane in Australia.

According to him, Arrow and its partner will soon conduct a seismic survey to find the best location to begin the exploration activities in Muara Enim. It would take one year to complete the seismic survey, he said.

He estimated that the company would drill exploration holes with the depth of between 400 and 600 meters to find the gas methane in the area. (*)
