Several Australian investors have indicated interest in developing a gold deposit in the district of Palu in Central Sulawesi, a regional official quoted by Antara News agency as saying.

Suardin Suebo, deputy mayor of Palu told Antara Tuesday that the gold deposit not far from the provincial city is believed to hold 60 tons of gold.

The deposit will not be depleted in 15 years, therefore, it is feasible for investment and being close to the city it will save much cost of building infrastructure, Suebo said.

The container port of Pantoloan, that would facilitate exports, is only 23 km away from that area, he added.

In addition, the regional administration will simplify the licensing procedure for prospective investors, he said. However, He gave no name for the prospective investors from Australia. (*)
