Australia-listed firm AWE Limited, the operator of the Titan PSC, offshore East Java, Indonesia, announced on Tuesday that the Atlas-1 exploration well had reached a measured depth of 613 meters at 0600 hours local time.

The company said gas samples collected from the well contain high percentage of carbon dioxide, and the joint venture has decided to plug and abandon the well at the current total depth.

The Atlas-1 well, located within the Titan PSC, is approximately 35 kilometers north east of the Lengo gas discovery. The exploration well is designed to test the gas potential of a carbonate reservoir sequence that, together with the Lengo gas discovery, could contain up to 1 trillion cubic feet of recoverable sales gas.

Particpants of the Titan PSC include AWE Limited (40%), Baruna Oil and Gas Ltd (25%), Mitra Energy (Indonesia Titan) Ltd (25%), and PT Sillo Martime Perdana (10%).
