AWE, partners spud offshore East Java exploration well

Australian firm AWE Limited reported Friday that the Liyun-1 exploration well in the Bulu PSC, offshore East Java, started drilling on June 17, 2010 .

?The well was running and cementing 20? casing at a measured depth of 86 meters,? the company said. The Liyun-1 well has a planned total depth of approximately 2,570 meters.

The well is being drilled approximately 35 kilometers offshore in a water depth of approximately 55 meters. Liyun-1 is targeting the oil potential of the Kujung I reef carbonates, currently producing in acreage to the east of the Bulu PSC, it said.

The participants in the Bulu PSC are AWE Limited (42.5% stake); Pearl Oil (Satria) Ltd (as operator with 42.5% stake) ; PT Satria Energindo 10% and PT Satria Wijaya Kusuma 5.0%. (kanti)
