AWE, partners to appraise E. Java gas discovery

Australia-listed firm AWE Limited reported on Tuesday that it plans to conduct drilling to appraise the Lengo gas discovery in Titan PSC offshore East Java later this year.
The company said in a quarterly Report that the Lengo well tested gas at rates of 12.8 million cubic feet per day from the discovery well in 2008.
Earlier this year, the company and partners drilled the Atlas-1 well and reached a total measured depth of 613 metres. The well intersected a well-developed carbonate reservoir, but it had to be plugged and abandoned due to high percentage of carbon dioxide in the gas.
Participants in the Titan PSC are AWE Limited (via subsidiaries) with operating interest of 40 percent, Baruna Oil and Gas Ltd 25 percent, Mitra Energy (Indonesia Titan) Ltd 25 percent, and PT. Sillo Maritime Perdana 10 percent.
Meanwhile, the company also reported that its shale gas joint study of acreage onshore Sumatra continued during the quarter, with the work planned for completion in the September quarter. This study area was one of the first four initial shale gas areas to be granted in Indonesia.
