AWE to drill Atlas-1 well in Titan PSC in April

Australia-listed oil, gas firm AWE Limited said it is now planning to drill the Atlas-1 well in the Titan PSC, in April, pushed back from initial plan of March. Titan PSC, operated by AWE, is located in offshore East Java basin.

?Site surveys have been completed and based on the current rig schedule, the well is expected to commence drilling in April 2012,? the company announced.

The Atlas-1 well will target a sizable gas prospect, located approximately 35 kilometers to the northeast of the Lengo gas discovery, which tested gas at rates of 12.8 million cubic feet per day from the discovery well in 2008.

The participants in the Titan PSC are: AWE Limited (via subsidiaries) (Operator), 40.0%, Baruna Oil and Gas Ltd, 25.0%, Mitra Energy (Indonesia Titan) Ltd, 25.0% and PT Sillo Maritime Perdana, 10.0%. Baruna Oil and Gas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Black Platinum Energy Ltd.

In addition, seismic reprocessing has been completed on the 2D surveys in both the Terumbu and North Madura PSC?s, AWE added. ?Farm-out discussions are being undertaken in parallel with this work,? it said.
