Bad weather may force Pertamina to stop WMO operation

State oil and gas company PT Pertamina said that due to weather condition it was considering to stop the production activities in West Madura Offshore (WMO) Block, East Java, which is operated by its subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi West Madura offshore.
But it stated in a press statement on Friday that it was still hoping the weather condition would be getting better so that there would be no need to stop operation.
"The weather is bad in West Madura. Sea waves are high that made us considering to stop operation. But we?re hoping it will be improving,? Pertamina Upstream Director M.Husein told Petromindo.com, without providing further details.
Separately, Pertamina Communication Vice President Ali Mundakir told Petromindo.com that currently there were a number of oil fuels (BBM) tanker ships that were not allowed to enter Kupang and other regions in the eastern Indonesia due to the bad weather condition.
?But we?ve anticipated such condition by providing supply through land transportation,? said Ali.
Hadi Prasetyo, Head of Public Relations, Security and Formality of the Special Task Force on Oil and Gas (SKK MIGAS) at the Energy Ministry, told Petromindo.com that they were monitoring the worsening condition of weather and how it had affected the oil and gas operations.
According to him, if the operation of PHE WMO stopped there will be a potential loss of oil production at 1200 bopd.
So far, reports from the field have shown until Friday night that its anchor resolute (barge) and anchor Perwira Perkasa (power barge) were broken, while its CB GADING 01 had been soaked by seawater. But generally, it was still under control.
