Badak hopes to extend cooperation with Angola LNG

PT Badak NGL, the operator of the Badak LNG plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan, expects to extend Operation and Maintenance (O&M) maintenance with Angola LNG, the operator of the Soya LNG plant in Angola.

Badak NGL?s President Director Nanang Untung told Petromindo.com on Friday that Badak NGL has provided ?commissioning startup assistance? to Angola LNG under the O&M cooperation agreement.

?Hopefully, the cooperation with Angola LNG can be extended through at least 2015,? Nanang said.

Angola LNG commissioned the Soya plant early this year and the first LNG cargo from the plant was shipped in June this year. The 5.2 mtpa plant was built with a total investment of US$10 billion. The plant is jointly owned by Angola?s state owned oil an gas company Senangol, Chevron, BP and Total.

Badak NGL is a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina. Nanang said it would be good if Pertamina was able to expand cooperation with Angola to other oil and gas sectors, in view of the fact that Angola has a huge oil and gas potentials.

?Its oil production alone reaches 1.8 million barrels per day (compared to Indonesia?s around 850,000 bpd) and the output is expected to increase to 2 million barrels per day in 2015. And its population is only 17 million,? Nanang said.
