PT Badak NGL has marked its shipping of the 9,000th cargo of LNG from Bontang in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) to Japan in a ceremony attended by PT Badak NGL?s President Director Salis S. Aprilian and Bontang Mayor Neni Moerniaeni.

PT Badak LNG was quoted by Prokal.Co as saying on Wednesday that the ceremony to mark the 9,000th shipping of LNG at the capacity of 125,000 cubic meter was also attended by Badak LNG Director and COO Yhenda Permana, Pertamina?s Representative Head Priyo Perwito, and Ship Master of LNG Shensu Maru Capt. Sasa Grk.

The LNG shipping from Bontang had been conducted since August 9, 1977, while the shipping with the Shensu Maru LNG tanker ship has been conducted since March 7, 1984. It was based on the Badak II Sales Contract signed in 1983 and the Badak II Extension Sales Contract signed in 2004,? said Yhenda.

Salis said during the ceremony on Tuesday that the 9,000th shipping can only be surpassed by LNG producer in Qatar which is able to ship two or three times bigger than the LNG cargos sent by Badak NGL. ?Sending a thousand cargos will need up to five years. The 8,000th shipping of LNG was made in 2011,? said Salis.

Hardy Pramono, President and General Manager of Total E&P Indonesie said that 82 percent of the gas in Bontang was supplied from Mahakam Block which is still operated by Total until the end of 2017, before being transferred to Pertamina in January 2018. He said that his company will continue to guarantee gas supply from Mahakam. (*)
