Badak NGL offers to train Donggi-Senoro personnel

East Kalimantan LNG producer Badak NGL, popularly known as Bontang LNG, has been recognized as world-class LNG operator by many of its peers that it has been trusted to train personnel of and give assistance in operating some LNG plants.

Badak NGL's general manager Nanang Untung said that now Badak NGL has offered a training service for personnel of the planned Donggi-Senoro LNG plant in Central Sulawesi.

?We have expressed our intention to related parties about it. Thus far, there is no response," he said.

He explained that the company has been trusted to train personnel from Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua. It also trained personnel from Yemen LNG project and is currently training personnel from Angola.

He also said that LNG shipment from Bontang would likely decline to 280 cargoes this year from 303 cargoes in 2009 because some of its buyers have asked for the delay in the shipment of the LNG.

The Bontang LNG plant exports LNG to Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. The buyers include Chubu Electric Power, Kansai Electric Power, Kyushu Electric Power and Nippon Steel Corporation as well as CPC Corporation of Taiwan.

Meanwhile, Agus Haryanto, the president director, said that at present, the LNG plant receives natural gas supply from several gas fields operated by Total E&P Indonesie, Pertamina, VICO Indonesia, and Chevron. The gas supply has begun to decline due to the depletion of the gas reserves of the fields.

Agus estimated that with existing gas reserves, the LNG plant might be able to produce only until 2020. (godang/bernard)
