Badak NGL to ship one LNG cargo to Tangguh customer

East Kalimantan LNG producer PT Badak NGL, popularly known as Bontang LNG, will ship one cargo of LNG to Tangguh customer to make up for cargo commitment shortage as Tangguh is still undergoing shutdown.

?We shall ship one cago as part of the swap agreement with Tangguh LNG. but the date and destination remain unclear. It's better to ask BPMIGAS," Badak NGL's President Director Agus Haryanto said Monday.

Last week, upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS?s chairman R. Priyono said that Indonesia may have to ship LNG from Bontang to South Korea, China and North America as repair works at Tangguh LNG plant is expected to take two or three weeks.

Tangguh?s first train was shut down earlier this week after technical problems were discovered at severel parts of the plant, including at mercury removal equipments.

Tangguh will have capacity of 7.6 MTPA when both of the trains operate in full capacity. The plant started shipment of two cargoes of LNG to South Korea and Chinese buyers last month.

The plant has long-term contracts to supply LNG to SK and Posco in South Korea, CNOOC in Fujian, China and Sempra in North America. (bernard)
