Bahlil appoints new head of Aceh upstream oil, gas agency

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has appointed Mawardi Nur as the new head of the Aceh Oil and Gas Management Agency (BPMA), replacing Nasri Jalal as part of a broader reshuffle of senior officials at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR).

The appointment was made during a ceremony at the ministry's Secretariat General office in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Mawardi most recently served as president director of PT Pembangunan Aceh (PT PEMA) Perseroda, a position he held from 2025 to 2026. Before that, he worked as general manager of Simon Mall in Los Angeles from 2018 to 2020 and as a staff member at Indonesia's Regional Representative Council (DPD)/People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) from 2010 to 2014. He has also served as chairman of TIDAR Aceh and previously chaired HIPMI Aceh Timur.

Born in Madat, Aceh, on Feb. 1, 1990, Mawardi earned an economics degree from Trisakti University in 2018 and pursued an MBA at the University of California, Irvine, according to information on his public profile.

The ministry also announced several other senior appointments. Lana Saria was named head of the Geological Agency after serving as expert staff for natural resources economics at MEMR.

Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, formerly expert staff for investment equity and partnership at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), was appointed expert staff for institutional relations at MEMR.

Muhammad Ikhsan Kiat was appointed head of the Oil and Gas Testing Center (Lemigas), which operates under the Directorate General of Oil and Gas.
