Bakrie asks Samsung to do EPC of Tanjung Jati A

PT Bakrie Power is inviting Samsung Corp. of South Korea to work on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the 1,200 Megawatt (MW) Tanjung Jati A combined cycle power plant owned by Bakrie Power.

"We've invited Samsung to accelerate the implementation of EPC contract in Tanjung Jati A. We're in a serious discussion with them. We hope that in 2016-2017 the project whas entered its COD (commercial operate date)," PT Bakrie Power President Director Ali Herman Ibrahim told petromindo.com in Jakarta on Friday.

Bakrie has urged Samsung to quickly select partners in implementing the EPC. "Currently, Bakrie is finalizing a land clearing on the site of the project," he said.

The Tanjung Jati A project, which was originally to be developed in Japara, Central Java, but then moved to Cirebon in West Java, has a total value of USD 1,5-1,6 billion.
