Gas for the 200 MW Pesanggaran PLDG diesel and gas-fired power plant in Bali, and for the local tourism industry is expected to start flowing on April 14 at the latest following the signing of a master sales and purchase agreement (MSPA) between state-owne electricity company PT PLN and state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina on Friday.

This is seen as the first step by industries in Bali to switch from diesel fuel to clean gas as source of energy, Director General of Oil and Gas IGN Wiratmaja Puja said in a statement. ?The distribution of gas to Bali is the first as the tourism industry and power plants had been relying on diesel fuel,? he said.

?After the signing of the agreement, the gas will arrive (in Bali) around April 12-14 at a volume of around 40 mmscfd or 35 cargoes for the power plant, and the remainder for the tourism industry,? Wirjatmaja said.

As has been reported earlier by this portal, the gas comes from Pertamina?s Bontang LNG plant in the form of LNG, which then goes through regasification process at the Benoa LNG mini terminal owned by PT Pelindo Energi Logistik.
