Balikpapan businessman sues Total for Rp 11 billion

A businessman of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan has filed a lawsuit against Total Indonsie, a subsidiary of French oil and gas company TotalFina, at the Balikpapan District Court Rp 11 billion (US$1=8,795) over a tender dispute.
Sappe, president of PT Meranti, claimed that his company had won the tender for the construction of the expansion of Total's office building in Balikpapan in 1999 but the company had unilaterally cancelled the tender's result.
Samarinda Post said the panel of judges heard the testimonies of the witnesses presented by Sappe over the weekend and adjourned the trial until Saturday this week to further hear the testimonies of witnesses presented by Sappe. (*)
