Balikpapan II refinery to resume full capacity end of May

State oil and gas company Pertamina said Tuesday that its Balikpapan II refinery in East Kalimantan will resume full refining capacity by the end of this month with the completion of two hydro cracker units maintenance.

Pertamina downstream director Muchsin Bahar said it is currently testing crude distillation unit (CDU) and production at 60 percent capacity was expected to resume on may 15.

Balikpapan II has a refining capacity of 220,000 BPD.

Michsin also said Musi refinery in South Sumatra would also be shut down in June for maintenance. He did not say how long the 135,000 BPD capacity refinery would be shut down. After Musi, Pertamina plans to shut down 125,000 BPD Balongan refinery in West Java for maintenance in August.(godang/alex)
