State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has partially restarted the operation of one crude distillation unit (CDU) at its Balikpapan refinery after scheduled maintenance, company processing director said Tuesday.

?We have partially restarted the refinery, namely the CDU, while other (units) are still under process,? Suroso Atmomartoyo said.

Pertamina expects the 200,000 barrels-per-day CDU to fully operate on April 17, 2007, Suroso added.

The refinery has two CDUs with the oil-processing capacity of 200,000 barrels and 60,000 barrels per day respectively. The one with the capacity of 200,000 bpd was shut down for maintenance in middle of February.

The CDU produces products such as light naptha, heavy naptha, kerosene, LGO, HGO, and long residue. (godang)
