The Balongan oil refinery in East Kalimantan started on Monday maiden shipment of its new jet fuel product to the Supadio International Airport in Pontianak, West Kalimantan Province.
State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, which operates the refinery, said in a statement that a total of 3,000 kl of jet fuel was shipped using the MT Mauhau vessel.
The company said that following an upgrade of the Balongan refinery, it has the capacity to produce 1,500 kl per day of jet fuel, which will in turn help reduce the country?s import of the fuel.
The statement said that the Balongan refinery in the future will also supply jet fuel to an international airport in Majalengka, West Java Province, which is currently under construction.
