Pertamina's Balongan Refinery has opened its propylene jetty for offshore logistics operations supporting PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ), under a three year cooperation agreement aimed at expanding the use of the refinery's port infrastructure.

The agreement, signed between the Balongan Refinery and PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK), took effect on Aug. 1 and will run until July 31, 2029.

Under the arrangement, the Balongan Refinery will provide the jetty infrastructure, PTK will act as the port service operator, and PHE ONWJ, the operator of ONWJ gas block offshore West Java,  will use the facility to support its offshore operations in the Northwest Java offshore working area.

Executive General Manager of the Balongan Refinery Yulianto Triwibowo said the cooperation is intended to optimize the utilization of the refinery's existing port facilities by enabling multiuser operations while supporting energy logistics within the Pertamina Group.

The propylene jetty, which currently handles refinery products including propylene, aviation fuel and LPG, will also serve PTK's logistics activities for PHE ONWJ's offshore operations.

Yulianto said the arrangement is expected to support upstream projects undertaken by PHE ONWJ, including the OO Project, which is expected to increase gas supply that also supports operations at the Balongan refinery.
