Local power transformer manufacturer PT Bambang Djaja, which has started operation of its manufacturing facility mid this year, hopes to be able to grab about 10 percent of the domestic power transformer market next year.
Director of Bambang Djaja, Daud Prasetyo said that demand for power transformers from state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, the largest single domestic buyer, is anticipated at about 400 units next year.
Daud acknowledged that as a new player, it would be difficult for his company to compete with other players particularly as the domestic power transformer market is dominated by five producers.
He said that the company will continue to conduct research and improve its power transformer products to help win competition.
Bambang Djaja makes transformers based on request including from PLN and building owners. In the early phase, the company?s transformer manufacturing facility will produce some 80 units of transformers, and that going forward it would be increased to 120 units.
