The Bangka field, which is part of the Indonesian Deepwater Development (IDD) project is scheduled to come onstream in August, Director General of Oil and Gas IGN Wiratmaja said on Monday.
The ministry is however still evaluating the Plan of Development (PoD) for the Gehem and Gendalo fields, which are also part of the IDD project, to see its economic viability.
"Bangka is on schedule to come onstream in August. However, the PoD for Gendalo and Gehem is still under review because they are not viable economically in view of the current crude price,? Wiratmaja said.
The IDD project is owned by Chevron Indonesia Company (CICo). The IDD project comprises of three gas blocks including Ganal, Rapak and Makassar Strait, covering five fields including Bangka, Gehem, Gendalo, Maha, and Gandang. Ganal, Rapak, and Makassar Strait are operated by CICo. According to one estimate, the IDD project is able to produce 1,270 mmscfd of gas at peak production.
