Bangkanai gas engine power plant starts operation

The Bangkanai gas engine power plant in Laheu District, Barito Utara Regency, Central Kalimantan, has started operation as 7.7 MW of the electricity has entered the Muereh Teweh grid system.

State-owned electricity company PT PLN said in a statement Monday that the power plant has a total capacity of 155 MW.

The company said that the power plant, which was built by Finish company Wartsila in cooperation with IDX-listed engineering firm PT Pembangunan Perumahan Tbk, will undergo a series of engine test on February 6.

PLN said that it is in the process of completing land acquisition for the planned four power transmissions to supply the electricity to the Central and South Kalimantan grid system.
