The Banjarmasin mayoralty in South Kalimantan has recently prohibited coal stock piling activity in the Pasir Mas area on the brink of the Barito River, the Kapos daily reported.
The Mayoralty vowed to uphold the ruling and would not compromise.
The paper quoted the head of the mayoralty's environmental department H. Rajuddin as saying that his office had been observing coal stock piling activity not far from the Trisakti Port.
He said that based on his observation, there were at least four coal companies, which had violated the ban. The companies included PT Kadya Caraka Mulya, PT Ba-ramulti, PT Varia Usaha and PT BAS.
He didn't say what sanction would be given to the above coal firms. (*)
