Banjarmasin Mayor threatens to closedown local coal businesses

Banjarmasin Mayor Sofyan Arpan in South Kalimantan threatened on Tuesday to shut down the operation of local coal businesses if they declined to participate in a seminar on waste treatment organized by the local Bapedalda environmental supervision agency.

The local Banjarmasin Post daily said that the seminar was scheduled to be held on August 24, and so far only 23 participants including from the hotel businesses had applied.

?The mayor has been disappointed with the attitude of the businessmen. We have sent the invitation long time ago but there was not much reaction,? said local administration spokesman Muhammad Arifin. (*)
