Banjarnegara warns micro hydro power plant investors

The Banjarnegara Regency administration in Central Java has threatened to revoke the permits of 33 micro hydro power plant projects in the region due to the lack progress, Kompas reported on Tuesday.

The paper quoted Doni Sutrisno, Head of the local administration?s water and energy resources office, as saying that the government wants to give other more serious investors the opportunity to develop the projects, which are seen crucial to help accelerate economic development in the regency.

He said that the administration has issued permits for 39 micro hydro power plant projects, but so far only six have been in production with combined capacity of 5,000 KW. (*)
