Banpu completes FS on Jambi coal project

Thai energy conglomerate Banpu Plc. had completed feasibility study on its Mampun Pandan project in Jambi province and would move to development stage sometime this year, a company official said.

?We are now waiting for environmental impact assessment studies,? Pongsak Thongampai, Banpu Indonesia director of business development and government relations told Petromindo.Com on a sideline of a seminar Tuesday.

Pongsak added that the mine would be scheduled to commence commercial production in 2005 at the rate of 1 million tons per annum.

The mine, which has 20 million tons of mineable reserves, will produce subituminous coal at average calorific value of 6,100 kcal/kg. (alex)
