Banpu eyeing 11.5 million tons from 2003 Indonesian units coal production

Thai energy conglomerate Banpu Plc. Said on Monday that the company planned to invest further US$ 40 million in 2003 fiscal year in its Indonesian coalmines and to boost output to 11.5 million tons from around 10 million tons last year.

In presentation released in the company?s website, Banpu said between 2004 to 2006, it would spend another $73 million in capital expenditure in Indonesian coalmines.

Banpu also said that in October 2002, it had secured insurance of its Indonesian business valued at US$ 91 million. Banpu also had managed to refinance its 100 percent Indonesian subsidiary Indominco Mandiri?s longterm debts worth $ 80 million.

Banpu operates three producing coal mines in Indonesia, Jorong Baturama Greston in South Kalimantan, Kitadin and Indominco Mandiri in East Kalimantan, and another three in advanced exploration stage. (alex)
