?We are interested in the project,? Banpu?s senior official Leksono Poerwanto said on Tuesday.
State electricity firm PT PLN is offering to national and foreign investors the contract to develop a 450-Megawatt coal-fired power plant in Cilegon as part of its efforts to boost power supplies for the Java-Bali power grid. The selection process for the investors will last from June this year to February next year, while the power plant is expected to come on stream in 2009.
Banpu earlier participated in the bidding for the contract to develop a mine-mouth power plant but the firm decided to withdraw from the bidding process, leaving two firms state owned coal firm PT BA and local firm Triaryani to compete for the project. (Alex)
