Banpu Indonesia produces 3.42 million tons of coal in Q3

Thai energy conglomerate Banpu Plc. reported on Friday that its Indonesian coal production slightly increased to 3.42 million tons in the third quarter this year from the previous quarter of 3.34 million tons.

Banpu said in a statement that coal sales in the quarter rose to 3.37 million tons, increasing from 3.23 million tons in previous quarter.

Banpu also said Indonesian coal sales reached 4.31 billion bath (US$ = 40.3455 THB) in the third quarter, driven by an improvement in average selling price.

Banpu operates seven coalmines in Indonesia including three producing coalmines; Jorong Barutama Greston in South Kalimantan, Indominco Mandiri and Kitadin, both are in East Kalimantan.

The company has targeted to raise its production by 19 percent from 11.95 million tons last year to 14.3 million tons this year.

As of September 30, the coalmines produced 9.51 million tons. (robert)
