Banpu may start underground coal production late 2010

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Indominco Mandiri may be able to start production from its underground mine late in 2010 after the study conducted on the project showed that the project is feasible.
An official from parent company Banpu Plc told Petromindo.Com recently that the mine might be able to produce 800,000-1 million tonnes of high CV coal per annum from the mine.
A Banpu official in June told Petromindo.Com in June that the company is teaming up with Polish firm Kopex SA to undertake the feasibility study.
Separately, MS Marpaung, a senior official at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources told Petromindo.Com that Indominco?s underground mine has 12 million tonnes of coal reserves and 49 million tonnes of resources. (denny/godang)
